Brooklyn’s Meet & Greet

“So, who’s this Brooklyn person to you?” asked the lovely lady decorating the cake.

“Umm, so, Brooklyn is my dog…” I quietly yet excitedly replied.

“YOUR DOG?!”

———–

Yes, my dog. I am officially a crazy dog mom (I mean look at her, she is so adorable and I want to give her the world.) Well, that and I absolutely love any reason to host a party.

According to my approximately 24 hours total of reading up on German Shepherds, I learned that one of. the important things to do between 8 and about 12 weeks is socialize and expose her to all types of experiences. What better way to socialize a puppy than to have a meet and greet party?

I whipped up an invitation I could easily send to family and friends (because every party should have some form of invitation, right? Even if it is an electronic one)

Then I set my theme (trying to tie in the colors of the invitation), ordered the decor and started prepping by envisioning the layout and watching the weather carefully to determine if we could host the party outside.

The party was a great success!
For guests we had fresh fruit, veggies and a variety of pinwheel sandwiches. I wanted to keep the food simple and also as safe for Brooklyn in the event any food was dropped.
I also ordered a baby themed cake, hence the opening of this post.

I wasn’t completely sure how many attendees there would be, so I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake and a dozen cupcakes. For the cupcakes, I made personalized toppers with Brooklyn’s face. It’s such a fun and cute way touch.

Real quick – back to picking up the cake: once she processed the fact that I am indeed purchasing all of this for a welcome party for my dog, she was totally into it! She added the bones to the cupcakes and sheet cake. Since I’m a lover of the small details, I was absolutely stoked that she did this without me asking! I was so appreciative of the extra care she took with my order.

Due to the short notice, I kept decor very simple.
I did enjoy making the banner for Brooklyn out of construction paper.

Maybe a party for a dog isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. However, it was an absolute hit and a great way to expose Brooklyn to all types of people.
